PAIRED CHANDELIER COMMISSIONED WORK, 1998
Really beautiful and sublime: the circular forms trade visual qualities when viewed from differing heights. When entering the dining room, the drum looms and the ring goes unnoticed. Once seated, and with a new vantage point, the visual heft of the drum vanishes and the ring appears present overhead. Even visual sophisticates are surprised! Lamplight dapples the room, refracting through the Venetian-style glass lamps and reflecting off the polished nickel forms and stainless wires.
Materials: Polished nickel and black oxide on steel, stainless steel wire. Blown glass oil lamps by Dick Huss. Plaster work by Ron Lunderby.
Dimensions: Ring and drum 8" x 32" dia. Hung 64" off floor.
